Club League Round 6 2009

Brave escape by Doherty

Young Con Doherty pulled of a great feat at round 6 of the Western Lakes / Covey wheelers cycling league. The Under 14 cyclist in his first every race made most of his handicap by averaging a speed close to 23mph for the 27mile race which was held on the main Louisburgh Westport road.

 Con did really well to hold of the scratch group which was led in by Constaine Bartels Belcarra and Colm Staunton Westport as the scratch men caught everyone else on the night to average a speed close to 26mph.

Jarlath Togher stills leads but by the slenderest of margins of only 1 pt, as he did not score pts in the top 10 which left him outside the big points, with only 4 rounds left there is all to cycle for especially anyone in the top 10.

The league continues to grow from strength to strength and members of the Covey Wheelers and Western Lakes club are welcomed to join the league at any time.
