Western Lakes cyclist Willie Connolly enhanced his claims of making the Irish team for the European Youth Olympics with a fine performance in Cork at the weekend.
Ballinrobe teenager Connolly won the U16 Time Trial on Saturday evening in the Corkman Three-day at Kanturk, and this race was being used as a selection trial by the Irish selectors.
On Sunday, he came fourth in the road race despite coming down in a bad crash.
Martin Munroe, also of Western Lakes, picked up two fourth-place finishes in the junior road race and the time trial.
Senior rider Joe Marrey finished well up in the road race to continue his good run of form.
