Cycling legend Mickey Palmer is star attraction at Club Awards
Western Lakes CC and Covey Wheelers (Westport CC) held a joint awards night together at Gannon’s bar Ballinrobe.
A great crowd turned up with over 80 seated for dinner.
Cycling legend Mickey Palmer and his former teamate Mickey Berry presented the prizes to all the winners.
Awards were made to the volunteers of the league with Mary Hughes, Mick Reidy, Brendan Scullion, Mick Sheridan and workaholic
Martin Mc Nally, all receiving nice pieces of crystal for all the good work done over the year.
The club invited along many special guests to the night, but Mickey Palmer was the star attraction, Mickey has come to prominence in the last few months after the launch of his book “Woollen jerseys and Whiskey legs”, a great storey of what it was like to be a bike rider in the fifties
The club would like to thank JJ Gannon and his staff for a wonderful night.
Parting went on to the small hours of the morning and a great night had by all.
