Sunday 13th

To open National bike week Western Lakes CC in association with Mayo Sports Partnership are holding a "Try A Bike" fun day on Sunday 13th June @12noon. We hope to introduce as many People as possible to the benefits of cycling.

The Day starts off with a variety of FUN spins to suit all capabilities.W.L.C.C. are hoping that huge numbers will participate in the event. It promises to be a family day out not to be forgotten.

All spins will start off and finish at Marrey bikes on Watson`s lane.Please bring your own bike (in good working order) and of course a helmet,if you do not have your own bike we will try to lend you one, after the spin everyone will be invited to the cycling centre where there will be Bouncing Castles, Music, Refreshments.

Monday 14th

Western Lakes rider bids for record

Padraig Marrey a Postman working in Westport post office and a member of Western Lakes CC is on his bike again, as part of the Bike week festivities (June 13-20th) he is looking at breaking the time set for cycling from Galway to Limerick.

4 years ago Padraig broke the Mizen head to Fair head record, completing the 372 miles in 17hrs 48mins, this time round Padraig is looking to beat the time of 2hrs and 34mins for the Galway to Limerick route set by Kieran Keane of Dublin in 2005, if he is to beat it, he will need the assistance of a strong tail wind as the average speed will have to be up near 25mph.

The Bid will take place on Monday the 14th of June starting at the GPO Galway at 7pm and finishing at the GPO Limerick approximeately 2 and half hours later.

TT League (20k)Tuam sign on from 6.45pm first rider off at 7.30pm

Cornamona 50 mile charity leisure cycle for diabetes sign on from 9am starting at 11am
