Joe Marrey wins Western Lakes/ Covey Wheelers club league

Over 11 events that included Time Trials, hill climbs and 7 road races, Joe managed to hold his nerve to come 2nd in the last event to grap the league from an ever improving Darragh Reidy from Westport.

The two riders were neck and neck for the final 3 rounds with Joe sneaking it at the death.

The event was very successful with a total of 87 cyclist taken part in one or more of the rounds throughout the year.

The league works well as it allows beginners and experienced cyclist to race together using a handicap system and a most improved rider competition where times are taken at the TT and hill climb at the start of the league which then have to be bettered at the end of the year if one is to win the league.

The most improved Adult and Youth cyclist will also be announced on the night.

League presentation will take place along with the club annual awards on October 17th at Gannon’s bar Main St Ballinrobe.
