Lucozade Sport Education Workshops

As part of a full programme of Workshops entitled ‘Preparing for Success in Sport 3’ Mayo Sports Partnership is pleased to announce a series of Lucozade Sport Educational workshops which will take place at the Breaffy GAA ClubHouse in October and November 2009.

Below is an outline of the upcoming workshops

 Time: 7.30pm

 Venue: Breaffy GAA Clubhouse, Breaffy, Castlebar, Co. Mayo

 Price: €10 per workshops. Book all 3 for just €25

Monday 12th October: Fuel & Fluid (nutrition & hydration)

Workshop 2

Monday 9th November: Get fit for sport & planning for success

Workshop 3

 Monday 23rd November: The Female Athlete

These workshops are aimed at all those with an interest in the development of sport and recreation including: sports clubs, community groups/organizations, agencies, schools, coaches, athletes, parents, and individuals.

Child Protection in Sport Workshop

( Limited amount of places still available )

A four hour workshop over two evenings on the Code of Ethics and Best Practice in Sport will be held in the Mayo Education Centre ( At rear of GMIT ), Old Westport Road, Castlebar, Co. Mayo on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th October. The course will start at 7.30pm each evening and finish at 9.30pm. This ‘Child Protection in Sport’ training is for Children’s Officers and/or Designated Persons, Sports Leaders and other adults involved in the organisation of sport for young people. This course is fully certified by the Irish Sports Council.

 The training will enable Children’s Officers/Sports Leaders to:

· Implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants

· Create a child-centred environment within the sports club

· List categories of abuse and some indicators associated with abuse

· Make appropriate response to a disclosure

· Make a report to designated officer or appropriate Statutory Authorities
