Marrey Bikes Ballinrobe 2day open for entries

Its only 6 weeks away till the Marrey Bikes Ballinrobe 2day (August 7th&8th), the race is now in its 5th year and has gone from strength to strength each year with 130 participants taken part last year.

Colm Laverty from Navan RC won last year's event holding his nerve to beat all the A cat riders, he is back again in 2010 to defend his title.

This 2 day event is open to all categories from Juniors up, that means A4 also get to ride as the event is handicapped.

We are also encouraging club racers to have a go, all they have to do is take out a day licence and they get to see what stage racing is like while having the advantage of a handicap over the experienced racers.

This stage race has the jerseys, the cups and €2500 in prizes so why not make a weekend of it and go horse racing on the Monday the 9th as well.

This year there will be a specially donated cup presented to the rider who scored the most points over the 2 days, the cup will be presented by the Mc Mahon family on behalf of their late son Ciaran Mc Mahon.

The race starts on Saturday the 7th of August at 3pm with an 80k hilly road stage.

Sunday there are 2 stages, stage 2a is an 8k TT, Stage 2b starts at 1pm with 85k road stage.

Entry forms are enclosed. Closing date July 28th.

The Ballinrobe 2 day August 7th and 8th is the only Handicapped stage race in Ireland where Ladies, Juniors, and C riders can compete fairly with A and B riders.

This year we have changed the route, making it a bit hillier with 5 KOH’S but the route will be a lot safer as the finishes are all outside the town.

The Race starts on August 7th with a 90k hilly route starting at 3pm.

Sunday Morning at 9am there is 8k TT from Kilmaine to Ballinrobe

Sunday 1pm another road stage of 90k taking in a 2 lap circuit with 2 small KOH’s

Sign on open Saturday at 12noon from The Western Lakes Cycling Centre on the Kilmaine road Ballinrobe.

This race is pre entry only and will be capped of at 120riders so enter early.
