Western Lakes CC wins their first National medal at MTB champs.

Young Brendan Scullion from Claddaghduff won a bronze medal at the National U16 Championships for Mountain biking on a very hilly testing course near Ballyhinch Co Down.

Brendan rode superbly to win the medal, even a bad fall on the 3rd lap could not stop him.

Western Lakes were also represented by Padraig Marrey who was unlucky to puncture while in 3rd place in the Experts race.

David O Loughlin who rides for the An Post Sean Kelly professional cycling team also gave the champs a good lash, when he finished a very creditable 6th place in the Elites race where he had to overcome punctures and mechanicals to finish, this in only his first MTB championship every.
