WESTERN Lakes Cycling Club’s hot young talent Martin Munroe made his debut in Senior A category cycling in Meath at the weekend – and he acquitted himself very well with an 8th placing overall.

Martin was riding in the Robinstown GP near Navan on Sunday, and apart from finishing 8th overall, he also won the Junior section.

This is outstanding preparation for his forthcoming ride on the Irish team in the Junior Irish Tour which takes place in the South-East region between August 3rd-8th. The Junior Tour is of an extremely high standard – last year’s winner was the World Junior Champion.

In Robinstown, Martin’s coach Padraig Marrey finished 3rd in the Senior A race, another fine performance by a man enjoying an excellent season.

Padraig Marrey (Western Lakes CC) and Partry man Mark Quigley (Total Cycling) both rode well to finish in advanced positions.
