Solo win for young Chris Kennedy of Covey Wheelers.
Making the most of his handicap young under 14 rider Chris Kennedy of Covey Wheelers soloed to a great win in Round 7 of the western Lakes / Covey wheelers league.
JJ Flaherty and his team hosted the event at Tully Cross setting out a hilly tough course for the 30 cyclists.
Hard racing by the scratch riders caught the middle group after 18miles, 5 miles later all but one of the front group riders were caught, leaving young Kennedy out on his own with 4 miles to go.
Some frantic attacks by the scratch riders soon had Kennedy in sight but it was not enough as he held his nerve to hold on for the win, Padraig Marrey jumped the rest of the group to get 2nd with Gerhard Hack of Germany getting the nod for 3rd.
A big thanks to the Village Inn Tully for providing the refreshments and to the local ladies for making the sandwiches.
Next round August the 20th in Westport, sign on from 6.45pm at the Garden centre on the West Rd, race start at 7.30pm
